Education at a Christian Academy is not just about religious instruction in the midst of secular subjects. It’s not just about teacher and student prayer, having Bible lessons, or having teachers who are Christians. It’s also not just about being free from evil influences or achieving better academic results.
Education, in itself, does nothing to change a child’s heart or society in general. The wickedness of man is natural, and only God can change hearts. Therefore, education at a Christian Academy is based on the conviction that everything taught – all classes, including arithmetic, reading and writing – comes from a God-centered perspective.
Apart from Christian education, no other education is consistent. Any program, system, plan or method that fails to acknowledge God and His personal, active and intimate role in the world in which we live does not correspond to the “real” world. Because God is active in the world, any system that does not take this into account is irreparably and fundamentally flawed.
What makes a Christian Academy different from other schools? Well, it’s based on the Biblical ideology of education which contrasts sharply with the secular ideology of education. Secular education is built on a foundation that’s no more trustworthy than the traditions of mankind.
Teachers at a Christian Academy are not more diligent or smarter because they understand the word of God. They understand the Biblical philosophy of education and know that God gives meaning to everything that they teach. Thus, true learning is achieved. A Christian Academy acknowledges that God is the foundation upon which education is built.
